NWA 15244 is an officially classified HED achondrite meteorite belonging to the eucrite group. According to the Meteoritical Bulletin, it is a fresh monomict breccia composed of lithic intergranular clasts and related crystalline debris within a fine-grained matrix. The major minerals are exsolved pigeonite and calcic plagioclase, accompanied by accessory phases including silica polymorph, fayalite, ilmenite, chromite, troilite and merrillite.
Eucrites are basaltic achondrites that formed through igneous processes on a differentiated parent body. They provide important information about early crust formation and geological evolution in the Solar System.
