Availability: 1 in stock

This specimen is a 222 g polished cuboid of the Aletai iron meteorite, measuring 74 × 20 × 20 mm. The cuboid exhibits the characteristic metallic structure and natural Widmanstätten pattern typical of iron meteorites. The piece is precisely cut to reveal its internal structure. Every purchase includes a Certificate of Authenticity, and as a member of the Meteoritical Society, I personally guarantee the provenance of this specimen.

Scientific and Physical Characteristics
It was discovered in Xinjiang, China, in 1898 and is part of one of the largest known iron meteorite falls. Aletai belongs to the IIIE chemical group of iron meteorites. These meteorites formed in the metallic core of a differentiated parent asteroid early in the history of the solar system. When cut and polished, iron meteorites can reveal internal crystalline structures formed during extremely slow cooling over millions of years inside the parent body.

The polished cuboid displays the dense metallic composition typical of iron meteorites and represents material that originated from deep within an asteroid. Iron meteorites are scientifically important because they provide direct evidence of planetary core formation processes. This specimen combines scientific value with a clean geometric presentation, making it suitable for serious meteorite collections.
