Availability: 1 in stock

This Sericho pallasite meteorite specimen weighs 35 g and originates from the Sericho region in Kenya. This stony-iron meteorite consists of olivine crystals embedded in a nickel-iron matrix, a structure typical of pallasites. The specimen is cut and polished on one side, while the opposite side remains natural and unmodified. It is stabilized and protected in epoxy resin. Every purchase includes a Certificate of Authenticity, and as a member of the Meteoritical Society, I personally guarantee the provenance of this specimen.

Scientific and physical characteristics

Sericho pallasite slices consist of translucent olivine crystals (Forsterite Fo 80–90) embedded in a nickel-iron matrix composed primarily of kamacite and taenite. These stony-iron meteorites represent material from the mantle-core boundary of differentiated asteroids, making them extremely rare.

The olivine crystals are typically yellow-green, ranging from transparent to semi-opaque. Slices like this allow detailed observation of the interaction between metallic and silicate phases.

Pallasites such as Sericho provide insights into asteroid differentiation, planetary formation, and early solar system processes, making them valuable for scientific study and advanced private collections.
